Rafia
Rafia has been designing jewelry for about 7 years. She started with one of a kind designs which she sold right off her. Shortly after, she made a sample line and showed it to Christie Martin at Nina Segal at Fred Segal (Santa Monica) which became the very first store to carry the line. She enjoys being creative and loves designing one of a kind pieces. She uses semi-precious and precious stones with silver, gold filled , 14k yellow and white gold findings. When customers place an order they should specify which metal they prefer. All Silver and Gold filled prices are the same and 14 karat prices are available upon request. Among the wire wrap jewelry is also a line of casted charms with inspirational phrases and words. This current collection is very feminine, delicate and dainty. It is also timeless and not trendy.
In 2003 she added a line of hair accessories for a junior market, they are very colorful hand crocheted and sewn items and have been selling at fine salons and high-end boutiques such as Prive (Los Angeles & New York), Jose Eber (Beverly Hills), Ron Robinson (Fred Segal, Melrose), Anthropologie (all stores nationwide), and many more.
Rafia's designs have appeared on various TV sitcoms, soap operas, Grammy's and films. Her designs were used in 2006 on the runway at Mercedes Benz Fashion week for Sue Wong designs. Rafia & Sue Wong collaborated together to come up with exact matching jewelry pieces for the dresses. Samantha Harris on "E" News is a big fan and wears Rafia jewelry often on her show. Rafia jewelry and hair accessories has been seen on many celebrities in magazines and television. Recently, Hiedi Montag (The Hills), Valery Ortiz (South of Nowhere) and Samantha Harris(Dancing with the Stars) all wore Rafia's designs for the MTV Movie Awards.
